The Quran was revealed in multiple modes of recitation, each transmitted through an authenticated chain (Sanad) from the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) through his Companions to the renowned Qurra (reciters) who preserved them. These ten authenticated methods are known as the Qirat al-Ashara — the Ten Qirat.
Most Muslims recite in Hafs an Asim, the most widely used Qirat globally.
